Well, it has been a few weeks since my last post. Unfortunately, I suffered a series of illness that just crushed me. Not that you need to know the details, but I was home sick and unable to move for several weeks. This complicated matters when I tried to go back to school and make up a mountain of homework and projects that had been building up for over a month - while I was out sick. In the end I had to withdraw from school for the trimester and will start again in April. I still wanted to finish this blog on professionalism, however.
The short answer is "yes." I believe that while digital versions of a portfolio help with convenience, the tactile physical portfolio has an undeniable presence and substance that goes a long way in establishing yourself.

Resumés are not something that I am either particularly or profoundly gifted at creating. As I understand it, a resumé acts as a first impression to a potential employer. This is because most people will examine my resumé before they open my portfolio. I have been told that the people I send my resumé and portfolio to go through tons of these things daily. This is why it seems to be so important to be memorable and to stand out.

I believe that as a professional I should be both academically educated, as well as self-taught at what I do.

As an assignment for my Identity Design class I have been asked to keep a blog as a way of allowing my viewers a glimpse into my beliefs on certain subjects. This week I have been posed the question, "What is a professional?" To help answer this question, my professor provided the class with Design Professionalism.
